About Me
2 months ago,I was living in a tin can in Dahlonega, Georgia with my blind husband, a cat and a dog and was miserable. I had just turned sixty, my husband was still working on his master's degree. We had no friends or relatives nearby.THEN,my father-in-law purchased eight acres of farmland with two double wide trailers on it and GAVE us one of them and the land. We pay lights and gas.That's it. This meant we had to move to Mayo, Florida but the lucky thing is we are about 30 minutes from the gulf and one mile from the Suwannee River.
This place is great...we have ten cows and 6 guinea fowl and will add to the list of animals as they become available. I am happy as a pig in mud!
Music
I was born and raised in Dearborn, Michigan...a suburb of MOTOWN. I used to go to dances at Walled Lake Casino where such locals as Stevie Wonder, The Temptations and The Supremes appeared on weekends. I have met them all...plus Smokey Robinson, Percy Sledge and Martha and the Vandellas. My fave is 50's and 60's rock and roll. I find I like the country tunes of the time. The Everly Brothers, etc. Surprise !because I sure don't like Country now. I love Andrea Boucelli, Josh Groban and Il Divo. I love light classical such as Rachmoninov. Celtic music is wonderful as well.
Movies
My favorite is anything with Rutger Hauer in it and I love LadyHawk. That is where I originally got my craft name, Isabeau. Phaedra, with Melina Mercouri is a beatiful film but I can't find it at Blockbuster or Netflix.
TV
ER! Can't miss it. I also like Rescue Me, Nip/Tuck, Medium, Heros and the Thursday night comedy lineup starting with My name is Earl. I also watch The Young and the Restless in the daytime. I love movies, especially historical,fully costumed pieces
Books
The Good Earth, by Pearl S. Buck and Siddhartha, by Herman Hesse, changed my life. I like anything by Allen Ginsburg whom I met in San Fransisco in the 60's. I love Ann Rice and John Jakes. I have read a LOT of James Michener.
Likes
BIG WATER...the gulf, the ocean, big lakes and rivers. I have always had to live close to water. Maybe it is because I am a triple fire sign and I need to keep my flame adjusted. I play fiddle, guitar and piano and that always soothes me whenever I am anxious about something. I used to play for my little ones when they were just kids.
Dislikes
Obnoxious, know it all people that try to save your soul and come up and say..."I am praying for you." They tell my husband that because he is blind but I am in a wheelchair and I don't get that sentiment. People should have healthier boundries
Hobbies
Already mentioned music, playing and listening. I love needlecrafts, especially embroidery and crochet. Boating, swimming, fishing and camping.
Vices
The computer...LOL I am not a neat housekeeper. I get depressed when I have to do housework. Lucky job my husband is in fine shape and he helps me with it. I do not smoke or drink but like to play the slots at Gulfport and Biloxi.
Virtues
I will give anyone a chance. I try to realize where they are coming from. If a person is unsalvagable...I just ignore them. I can't hang with crazy people anymore. I love animals and am good with them. All sizes and types.
Heroes
Rosie O'Donnel because of all she does for adoption for kids. Oprah Winfrey for what she is doing in Africa as far as education is going and Roseanne for what she did for comedy for the whole world, especially for women. She's vulgar but she's who she is like it or lump it!
